I remember back in the 1970s an “All in the Family” episode with the iconic character Archie Bunker. He called AT&T “American Thugs and Thieves.” The old adage that the more things change the more they stay the same is appropriate.

AT&T has taken over a good company, DirecTV. They totally ruined it. DirecTV was an awesome company — great customer service, a personable company. Now? It is a money-driven, very unfriendly business. I tried to upgrade service to HD for a 90-year-old World War II veteran. I spent more than two hours with customer service. This gentleman has been a customer for years. Sorry, I was told, he does not qualify. I told them all he wanted was HDTV. Well, for a $7.99 protection plan and $99 and then $10 more a month, he can have it.

If this is how DirecTV and AT&T respect our veterans and our elderly then they should lose our loyalty.
