I am writing in support of Jim Torbert for House District 88. Jim’s dedication to his community and to Maine’s future is needed in Augusta. I met Jim this year as I re-engaged in local politics and am inspired by his energy and spirit of service.

Jim is a retired public school teacher. He lives in Whitefield with his wife Theta and is active as Chair of the Whitefield Planning Board and on MOFGA’s board of directors.

In Augusta he will work for residents in Whitefield, Jefferson, Chelsea and Nobleboro to be our voice, and to get the state to pay its fair share of education funding, reduce local property taxes, and invest in infrastructure, including roads and internet access. Local agriculture is important to Maine’s economy and to our health, and Jim will be a strong advocate for this important sector.
