AUGUSTA — The 2016-17 concert schedule for the 14th season of Concerts at Jewett held at UMA’s Jewett Hall Auditorium (unless noted otherwise) has been announced.

The University of Maine at Augusta College of Arts and Sciences and UMA Senior College will host the series, sponsored by local businesses and private contributions. The concerts will feature Maine performers representing a variety of musical forms. Proceeds will be used to subsidize present and future lectures and concerts to benefit the community.

2016-17 Season:

• Fiddle-icious, 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Cony High School, 60 Pierce Drive, Augusta. A multi-generational orchestra from across Maine, preserving the cultural heritage of Maine, French and Canadian fiddle music and step-dancing; directed by legendary Don Roy.

• Don Campbell Honors American Veterans at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, (snow date: Nov.20). Campbell and his band join UMA/UMASC in honoring Veterans of all ages and branches of the military. Vets admitted free. Invite an American hero to join you for this very special concert.

• A Christmas Concert with Downeast Brass and Jay Zoller, organist, is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at South Parish Congregational Church, 9 Church St., Augusta. This annual concert will feature a brass quintet, an organist and a restored 1866 E.&G.G. Hook organ.

• Dave Rowe and The Squid Jiggers, 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 (snow date: Jan.15). Rowe presents his reflective originals.

• The Plaid Dragonflies, 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12 (snow date Feb. 19). Recommended by Senior College students, Tess Zardus and Val Bennett will present a medley of popular songs from the 40s through today.

• Choro Louco, 2 p.m., Sunday, March 5, a Brazilian Choro band from Portland will present the unique rhythms and intricate harmonies of Brazil’s Choro music.

• Sarah Geller, 2 p.m. Sunday, April 9. A young Farmington native who performs in NYC, will share her violin skills.

• Masanobu Ikemiya, 2 p.m. Sunday, May 7. A highly acclaimed concert pianist, peace activist and environmental steward. Featuring intricate pieces by master composers, light-hearted ragtime rhythms and videos of places and projects that inspire him.
