NORTH ANSON — Historian, researcher and writer Steve Pinkham will present the “Story of the Carrabassett River” at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Stewart Public Library, 37 Elm St.
The river was the reason the area was originally settled because of water power and access. Since then, the beauty of the river has attracted people near and far.
Participants can learn the origin of the name and other stories of the river flowing from Sugarloaf to the Kennebec River. Pinkham also will have his books “Old Tales of the Maine Woods” and “More Old Tales of the Maine Woods” for sale.
