I am writing about Jim Torbert, candidate for House District 88.
I know Jim as a fellow farmer with a strong desire for the viability of farming in Maine. As a board member of MOFGA he is working to support local agriculture, like making financing more accessible to beginning farmers and making movement of healthy food from farm to table more efficient.
In observing his conduct as chairman of the Whitefield Planning Board I have seen his a low-key approach, and ability to consider input from all residents and applicants and to make fair and legally sound recommendations.
In talks with Jim and as a driver in his door-to-door campaign, I have observed his interest in learning about the pressing concerns of voters, ability to listen and to quietly explain his own position on issues.
Jim Torbert is the person we want to represent us in Augusta.
