Chef Shannon Bard, co-owner of Zapoteca restaurant in Portland, has launched the next phase of her restaurant project in Kennebunk.

Bard opened a Spanish restaurant, Toroso Kitchen & Cocktails, in late July. Now, in the same location but downstairs, she is opening Salud Bistro, which will sell housemade pastries and doughnuts, breakfast sandwiches and coffee in the morning and gourmet soups, salads and sandwiches at lunch.

Customers will also be able to order dinner online, then pick up all the pre-cut ingredients and the recipes to take home and cook themselves – much like the meal kit services that can be delivered through the mail.

The bistro will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Bard will also offer two cooking classes a week in the bistro’s new professional kitchen. Classes begin in November and the cost ranges from $85 to $135. Topics include holiday prep – think hors d’oeuvres, desserts and pies – and cooking and pairing with wine. Classes are listed on eventbrite.com and will soon be on the restaurant’s website, saludbistrome.com
