Ed Hastings currently has the most experience on the Augusta school board of managing multi-million-dollar budgets, expertise in how functional boards work and negotiating with unions. He is one of the few people on the board with extensive executive experience. The city of Augusta cannot afford to lose this member of the board. Without him the board would be left with a lot of well-meaning but inexperienced people who seek guidance as opposed to having the knowledge base they need to make hard decisions.
The longest serving on the board have failed to produce a balanced budget for too many years to count. Since being on the school board Ed has suggested real changes to move the budget toward a more fiscally responsible and transparent accounting. He is the only candidate to choose.
