Neighbors Driving Neighbors will celebrate its anniversary of the first ride on Nov. 14.
Since that first ride, NDN has seen substantial growth; this volunteer service provided 29 rides in August and September and has managed 264 ride requests since its inception.
The organization serves residents of Belgrade, Fayette, Mt. Vernon, Rome and Vienna, an area not served by public transportation.
The mission of the orgnanization is to enrich the communities by coordinating volunteer drivers who assist those who do not drive, so they can more easily remain in their homes.
Though many of the rides so far have been to medical appointments, NDN also drives people for shopping, food bank, errands and events.
