Unity College will hold PeaceJam Maine fall slam event, a one-day conference for students in eighth through 12th grades led by Unity College PeaceJam mentors. The event, hosted by PeaceJam Maine and Unity College, is planned from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12.

The event will feature Unity College President Dr. Melik Peter Khoury, an education entrepreneur whose blend of industry-disrupting vision, strategic financial planning, and managerial expertise has fostered sustainable growth in higher education for more than 16 years.

At Unity College, Khoury has found the perfect opportunity to leverage his brand of “functional leadership in abundance” toward realization of Unity’s mission as the nation’s premiere environmental college, preparing graduates to solve real world environmental problems through the framework of Sustainability Science.

The slam will include team-builders, workshops and service learning projects that engage students in the core principles of peace education, and a safe space that fosters optimism while engaging students to become inspired by working towards solutions for some of the world’s most pressing issues.

The cost is $15, with scholarships available, and a suggested donation of one non-perishable food item or new pair of socks to support local efforts.
