Capital Area Technical Center has announced its October Students of the Month.

Jason Gyles is a junior from Maranacook Community High School enrolled in the Automotive Technology program. His instructor, Joe Rabideau, describes Gyles as “attentive, trustworthy, and a hard worker in the classroom and in the shop,” according to the center’s release. He has enjoyed the hands-on nature of the program and finds it great to be in class learning about something he is super interested in. When he is not in school, Gyles is working at a local auto repair shop. He plans to pursue a career in automotive technology working in a dealership and dreams of eventually owning his own garage.

Matt Holt is a senior from Richmond High School enrolled in the Plumbing & Heating program. His instructor, Nick Smith, said Holt is a “real team player and eager to help his classmates,” which may stem from his experiences as a three season athlete, according to the release. He plays soccer, basketball and baseball at the high school. Holt feels he has learned a lot in the class in a short amount of time, and that many of the lessons he has learned at CATC will help him throughout his life. Upon graduation, Holt plans to continue his education in plumbing and heating and pursue a career in the field.
