Community Spay-Neuter Clinic of Topsham announces its grant-funded free sterilization of dogs and cats (owned, stray, feral, barn) program will soon end. Waterville residents can sign up now to get a spot on the free pet transport operating weekly from Waterville’s KVCAP on Water Street, according to a news release from the clinic.
More than 1,000 pets have taken advantage of the climate controlled transport from Waterville in the five years it has been running. In collaboration with Humane Society Waterville Area, Community Spay-Neuter Clinic is offering free sterilization and rabies vaccination through a program funded by PetSmart Charities.
This collaborative P.A.T. project (People and Animals Together) has sterilized more than 300 South and North End cats since its start in October 2015.
“Many pet owners in Waterville want to have their dog or cat fixed, but don’t know who to turn to for affordable service. Our program assists those people with limited transportation and resources,” Dr. Elizabeth Stone, director of the Clinic, said in the release.
Community Spay-Neuter Clinic relies on grants and donations and volunteers to help keep programs running. Those who are interested in helping reduce pet homelessness.
