FARMINGTON — DDG Booksellers is participating in a special program started by author Sherman Alexie and the American Booksellers Association on Saturday, Nov. 26, Small Business Saturday. This program, called Indie’s First, is to promote the idea of having authors work as volunteer guest booksellers on Small Business Saturday at their local independent bookstores all across the country. The authors will recommend their favorite titles to customers and possibly gift wrapping.

The store will host local award-winning authors Chris Van Dusen, Jeffery Thomson and Kristen Case at 193 Broadway. People can find out what these authors are reading, starting with Chris Van Dusen from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by Jeffery Thomson and Kristen Case from 1 to 3 p.m.

Van Dusen has been a writer and illustrator of children’s picture books since 2000. Some of his books include “The Circus Ship,” “Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee,” and “If I Built a Car.” In 2015, he won both the Children’s Book Award and the Katahdin Award. Thomson is a poet, memoirist and translator, and is the author of multiple books including “Fragile,” “Birdwatching in Wartime,” “The Complete Poems of Catullus” and “From the Fishouse.” He has been an NEA Fellow and a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar.
