The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying more than 140 items that were recovered through an investigation of a series of thefts.

Deputies have recovered items that are believed to have been taken between Sept. 20 and Nov. 3 from camps and summer homes in Jefferson, Nobleboro and South Bristol.

In a news release, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said the string of thefts are believed to have been committed by Brian Bennett, 36, of Waldoboro, who was arrested earlier this month on a charge of violating conditions of release..

Bennett has been charged with burglary, receiving stolen property, stealing drugs, aggravated criminal mischief and two counts of violation of conditions of release. The last two counts are for contacting a witness from jail.

The sheriff’s office is not releasing any photos of the recovered items. Investigators are still looking for the owners of the property and don’t want to release any of it without positive identification.

Investigators are asking homeowners and caretakers to check their residences and report any burglaries or thefts. Any questions should be directed to Detective Sgt. Ron Rollins in the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 882-7332.
