Deb Violette, president and CEO of Free ME from Lung Cancer, recently received the first Lung Force Hero Award from American Lung Association at its annual Lung Force Turquoise & Tapas event. The event was held at the Cellardoor at The Point in Portland, according to a news release from the assocication.

“I am humbled and honored to receive such a prestigious award for doing what my heart has lead me to do — advocate for those who cannot, raise money for research and provide low dose CT scans to high risk patients that have no insurance. Thank you American Lung Association for choosing me as your first Hero,” said Violette according to the release.

MaineHealth received the Roselle Huddilston Award and Maine Solar Advocacy Coalition received the Healthy Air Leadership Award.
