Two people were injured Friday morning after their car slid on black ice and rolled over on U.S. Route 2, also known as Mercer Road, in Norridgewock.
Martin Meader, 52, of Norridgewock, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer east when he apparently hit a section of road covered with black ice just after 5:15 a.m., according to a news release from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
Martin lost control of the car, traveled across the westbound lane, struck a sign, went into a ditch and rolled over, with the car landing on its roof.
Martin and his passenger, 44-year-old Brenda Meader, were taken by ambulance to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening. The vehicle was destroyed, police said.
