NEWPORT — Sidney Moore scored 14 points to lead the Nokomis girls basketball team past Mt. Blue 43-20 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Friday night.

Chelsea Crockett added seven points for Nokomis (1-0).

Mt. Blue (0-1) was led by Rebecca Harmon with five points.

VALLEY 49, BUCKFIELD 18: Haven Mayhew scored 17 points and Hallie Miller added 10 as the Cavaliers prevailed in an East/West Conference game in Buckfield. Kendra Sweet scored nine points for Valley (1-0).

Emily Swartz scored five points to lead Buckfield (0-1).

WINSLOW 58, MOUNT VIEW 14: Heather Kervin scored 17 points, including making all seven of her free throw attempts, as the Black Raiders rolled to the KVAC B victory in Thorndike.

MADISON 59, DIRIGO 15: Sydney LeBlanc had 15 points and the Bulldogs held the Cougars scoreless in the second quarter en route to the Mountain Valley Conference win in Madison.

Lauren Hay had four points and eight rebounds for Madison (1-0), while Madeline Wood added 10 points and five assists.

Alexa Varnum’s 10 points led Dirigo (0-1).

WATERVILLE 46, CAMDEN HILLS 44: Jordan Jabar had a game-high 21 points to lead the Purple Panthers to the KVAC A win in Camden.

Charlotte Messer paced Camden Hills (0-1) with 17 points.

MONMOUTH 62, CARRABEC 17: Destiny Clough and Maddie Amero each scored eight points to lead a balanced attack as the Mustangs prevailed in the MVC opener for both.

Libby Clement, Hannah Anderson and Tia Day each scored seven for the Mustangs (1-0).

HAMPDEN 64, SKOWHEGAN 31: The Broncos hit nine 3-point buckets and pulled away with a 20-point third quarter to take the KVAC A opener for both teams in Skowhegan.

Zach Small had 14 points and nine rebounds for Richmond (1-0), while Cody Tribbet hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 14. Matt Rines chipped in six assists.

Ricky Thompson scored 24 points for Rangeley (0-1), while Carl Trafton scored 11.
