NEWPORT — Sidney Moore scored 14 points to lead the Nokomis girls basketball team past Mt. Blue 43-20 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Friday night.

Chelsea Crockett added seven points for Nokomis (1-0).

Mt. Blue (0-1) was led by Rebecca Harmon with five points.

VALLEY 49, BUCKFIELD 18: Haven Mayhew scored 17 points and Hallie Miller added 10 as the Cavaliers prevailed in an East/West Conference game in Buckfield. Kendra Sweet scored nine points for Valley (1-0).

Emily Swartz scored five points to lead Buckfield (0-1).

WINSLOW 58, MOUNT VIEW 14: Heather Kervin scored 17 points, including making all seven of her free throw attempts, as the Black Raiders rolled to the KVAC B victory in Thorndike.

Paige Trask scored 11 points and Ciara LeClair added five for Winslow (1-0).

Andrea Crosby scored 10 points to lead the Mustangs (0-1).

MADISON 59, DIRIGO 15: Sydney LeBlanc had 15 points and the Bulldogs held the Cougars scoreless in the second quarter en route to the Mountain Valley Conference win in Madison.

Lauren Hay had four points and eight rebounds for Madison (1-0), while Madeline Wood added 10 points and five assists.

Alexa Varnum’s 10 points led Dirigo (0-1).

WATERVILLE 46, CAMDEN HILLS 44: Jordan Jabar had a game-high 21 points to lead the Purple Panthers to the KVAC A win in Camden.

Mackenzie St. Pierre added 13 for Waterville (1-0).

Charlotte Messer paced Camden Hills (0-1) with 17 points.

MONMOUTH 62, CARRABEC 17: Destiny Clough and Maddie Amero each scored eight points to lead a balanced attack as the Mustangs prevailed in the MVC opener for both.

Libby Clement, Hannah Anderson and Tia Day each scored seven for the Mustangs (1-0).

Bailey Dunphy scored eight points to pace the Cobras (0-1).


OCEANSIDE 53, ERSKINE 41: Nate Raye scored a game-high 23 points to lift the Mariners to the KVAC B win in South China.

Cooper Wirkala added 12 points for Oceanside (1-0).

Jack Jowett led Erskine (0-1) with 18 points, while Noah Bonsant chipped in 10.

WINSLOW 54, MOUNT VIEW 40: Dylan Hutchinson scored 14 points to lift the host Black Raiders to the KVAC B win.

Mike Wildes added nine points, seven rebounds and six assists for Winslow (1-0).

Colby Furrow lead Mount View (0-1) with 16 points while Devon Davis added six points and 13 rebounds.

VALLEY 63, BUCKFIELD 55: Austin Cates had 20 points, eight rebounds and eight assists as the Cavaliers earned head coach Curtis Miller his first win.

Dillon Beane added five points and 12 rebounds for Valley (1-0).

Ethan Jackson had 16 points for Buckfield (0-1).

HAMPDEN 64, SKOWHEGAN 31: The Broncos hit nine 3-point buckets and pulled away with a 20-point third quarter to take the KVAC A opener for both teams in Skowhegan.

John Wellington, Kory Winch, and Tommy Raye each finished with 11 points for Hampden (1-0).

Marcus Christopher paced Skowhegan (0-1) with 10 points.

NOKOMIS 49, MT. BLUE 33: Zach Hartsgrove and Brad Allen each scored 13 points to pace the Warriors to the KVAC A win in Farmington.

Josh Smestad added 10 points for Nokomis (1-0).

Cooper Hollingsworth had five points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars (0-1) and Caleb Hall scored eight points.

RICHMOND 62, RANGELEY 50: Matt Holt scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Bobcats to the East/West Conference victory in Richmond.

Zach Small had 14 points and nine rebounds for Richmond (1-0), while Cody Tribbet hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 14. Matt Rines chipped in six assists.

Ricky Thompson scored 24 points for Rangeley (0-1), while Carl Trafton scored 11.
