A Lisbon man was arrested Friday for hitting a Lisbon police cruiser and fleeing the scene.

Alexander Bennett, 20, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and operating a motor vehicle beyond restriction after his pickup truck hit the cruiser on Winter Street at 10:36 p.m., police said.

Bennett drove away and was picked up 15 minutes later on Village Street. He was also charged with criminal mischief after he allegedly broke a jail cell door window at the Lisbon Police Department.

The police responded to Winter Street after receiving a report of a pickup truck spinning its tires and causing excessive noise.

The police car was seriously damaged, police said. No one was hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.
