MADAWASKA – Police in a northern Maine town are investigating a fatal crash in which an 88-year-old man was struck and killed by a car.

Reginald Boucher was killed in the crash on Dec. 7. The car was driven by 38-year-old Sesie Young, also of Madawaska.

Boucher was a pedestrian walking across Main Street at the time of the crash. The Bicycle Coalition of Maine, which monitors crash reports involving bicyclists and pedestrians, say it is following the investigation.

The coalition says Boucher’s death is the 15th fatality of the year involving a person walking or on a bike in Maine. It also says last year a record of 19 people were killed on Maine’s roadways while walking.
