SKOWHEGAN — The Skowhegan Parks & Recreation Department will host a woman’s self defense class from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 14.

Instructor Sifu Glenn Broadley will teach participants, age 7 and older, methods to avoid becoming the victim of an assault and how to defend themselves should an assault take place. This will include basic techniques designed to repel an attacker, get out of a hold and subdue or incapacitate an attacker even if they are bigger.

The class will be very “hands on” so wear comfortable clothing, bring a change of clothes and come prepared for a physical workout. Young ladies younger than 14 must have a parent present for the class.

There is no fee for the class, participants must register prior to Jan. 12 at the Community Center, 39 Poulin Drive.
