PHILLIPS — Police arrested a 53-year-old man Tuesday after investigating a complaint of a Dec. 15 sexual assault on a child, according to a news release from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Eric J. Wilding, of Phillips, was arrested at 1:22 p.m. at his home by police on a charge of gross sexual assault, a class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in jail and a fine of up to $20,000.
Police conducted multiple interviews between the time of the complaint and the arrest, the release said. The person reported to be the victim is under the age of 16 and the assault allegedly occurred in Phillips.
Wilding is being held at the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail. His initial appearance before the court is pending.
