Christmas Bird Count, Jan. 2 in Biddeford and Kennebunk

York County Audubon sponsors two Christmas bird counts to help monitor the health and status of bird populations throughout North America. The counts began with the National Audubon Society’s count on Christmas Day in 1900. More than 2,300 areas are covered each year, with more than 70,000 birders participating from Alaska to South America. At the end of the day, counters meet to compile counts and share highlights. The counts are forwarded to National Audubon for its master compilation. The next count will be Jan. 2 in Biddeford and Kennebunk. Call 967-4102 or email kadona11@roadrunner.com for more information.
