Presque Isle police warned heroin users that a bad batch of the narcotic led to five overdoses within a four-hour period on Tuesday.
A 6:30 p.m. Facebook post by Police Chief Matt Irwin said the first overdose was reported in the afternoon around 2 p.m.
“We are reaching out to everyone tonight who may have a loved one who is addicted to heroin in the Aroostook County area or maybe YOU are the one struggling with the addiction,” Irwin said.
“It appears there may be a bad batch circulating in our area. Please call for help at the earliest possible moment.”
None of the overdoses were fatal, according to Irwin.
