A Jackson man has been arrested over allegations that he raped a child over a two-year period of time, according to Maine State Police.
Paul Andrews, 33, was arrested Tuesday evening at his home on Boslee Drive on a charge of gross sexual assault, a class A felony, according to a state police news release on Thursday morning. Police made the arrest after learning he allegedly had raped a girl under the age of 10, according to the release. Detectives and troopers arrested Andrews after consulting the District Attorney’s Office about the case, the release said.
The sexual assaults allegedly took place over a two-year period, detectives said.
Andrews was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset and was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, after initially being taken to the Waldo County Jail.
