In regards to Roy Grice’s Dec. 14 letter concerning using E15 fuel I present the following:
The American Motorcyclist Association opposes E15 because it can cause engine and fuel system damage to motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and any other small engines, i.e. lawn mowers, tillers, etc., and can void manufacturer’s warranties.
In October 2010, the EPA approved E15 for use in model year 2007 and newer light duty vehicles (cars, light-duty trucks, and medium-duty passenger vehicles). In January 2011, it added model year 2001-2006 light-duty vehicles to the approved list.
I see the market getting flooded with E15 and access to our regular gas will be extremely difficult.
I’m all for cleaner air for our environment but at what cost to the average person? Cheaper fuel yet higher costs to replace the above items.
