JACKMAN — Eighth-grader Parker Desjardins scored 27 points to lead the Forest Hills boys basketball team to a 76-74 win over Valley in an East/West conference matchup Thursday night.

“(The win) is huge,” Forest Hills head coach Anthony Amaro said. “You worry about young teams when they play teams like (Valley)… I just told them we’re going to play and get after them. They played loose, because they knew they had nothing to lose.”

Dalton Gregoire had a double-double for the Tigers (4-5), scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Kenn Vito Cruz chipped in with 11 points.

The Cavaliers (7-2) were led by Austin Cates, who scored 33 points. Nathan Ames added 11 points.

“The Cates kid had a phenomenal performance,” Amaro said. “He had 18 points in the second half. It was a great knockout fight, going back and forth.”

MESSALONSKEE 61, LAWRENCE 55: Nate Violette scored 17 points to lead the Eagles to a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A victory over the Bulldogs in Fairfield.

Cole Wood scored 13 points, while James Kouletsis and Griffin Tuttle each added seven points for Messalonskee (7-3).

Mason Cooper led Lawrence (2-8) with 33 points. Brandon Hill chipped in with 12 points.

MADISON 67, LISBON 46: Mitch Jarvais scored a game-high 21 points and Sean Whalen added 19 points as the Bulldogs prevailed in a Mountain Valley Conference game in Madison.

Evan Bess chipped in with 12 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, for Madison (9-1).

Jonah Sautter scored 12 points to lead Lisbon (5-4).

OXFORD HILLS 69, MT. BLUE 41: James Anderson scored nine points, but it wasn’t enough for the Cougars, who fell to the Vikings in Farmington.

Garrett Reynolds, Will Frederic and Cole Dorman each scored seven points for Mt. Blue (1-9).

Chris St. Pierre led Oxford Hills (7-3) with 14 points.

NOKOMIS 62, SKOWHEGAN 48: Zach Hartsgrove scored 22 points and Josh Smestad added 17 to lead the Warriors in a KVAC A game in Newport. Smestad also had four assists, four rebounds and four steals.

Brad Allen had nine points and 10 rebounds for Nokomis (6-3).

Brendan Curran scored a team,-high 17 points to lead Skowhegan.

WINSLOW 88, MARANACOOK 19: Heather Kervin scored a game-high 28 points and Paige Trask added 15 to lead the Raiders in a KVAC B game in Readfield.

Silver Clukey scored eight points and Grace Smith had five points and eight rebounds for Winslow (7-1) as well.

Grace Depres scored 11 points to lead the Black Bears (0-9).

WATERVILLE 44, MCI 39: Trailing 30-26 after three quarters, the Purple Panthers outscored the Huskies 18-9 in the final period en route to the win in Waterville.

Jordan Jabar led the offense with 22 points and also grabbed 14 rebounds for Waterville (6-3), while Sadie Garling added nine points, all in the fourth quarter.

MCI (6-4) was led by April McAlpine with 11 points and Deangeliz Urena and Sydney Morton with 10 apiece.

FOREST HILLS 38, VALLEY 33: Caitlin Logston scored 22 points to lead the Tigers to an East/West win over the Cavaliers in Jackman.

Madison Cuddy chipped in five points for Forest Hills (5-5).

Kendra Sweet led the Cavaliers (1-8) with 11 points.
