A Rhode Island man was killed over the weekend when he failed to negotiate a curve in a trail and crashed into a stand of trees.
Edmond D. Imondi, 53, from Foster, Rhode Island, was riding with two friends along a trail west of Millinocket Lake in T1 R9 WELS on Saturday when he rode straight into the trees, the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said.
Imondi was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is still under investigation, but early indicators show speed and unfamiliarity with the trails were contributing factors, authorities said.
The death is the third this season.
