I’m in hopes that 2017 will allow society to make smarter decisions. But seeing recent articles about women involved in drugs and endangering children makes me see that bad decisions are still being made.

Heroin is also taking its toll on society. Young people should realize that the drug path is a dead end — in many cases literally.

Look to a path that does something of value for society and take responsibility for your actions.

If you opt to have children, know that it is your responsibility to raise them, morally, financially and ethically. If you need guidance on the proper path, reach out to your local church organizations for help.

Maine is full of children who need help getting the food they need. This is a moral crisis. No children should be born into a house that cannot properly care for them.
