Amy Calder’s Jan. 7 article was appalling (”Elderly couple’s eviction from Albion home draws LePage’s ire”). How could the town of Albion throw these poor seniors out of their home because of an overdue $6,500 tax bill? I hope the town fathers are proud of their decision and that they use the money from the sale of the property wisely.

Thank God for the governor’s attempt to rectify the matter, even if it was unsuccessful. If Albion treats seniors in such a disgraceful way, what does that say about us as a compassionate society? I hope the voters of Albion are as upset as I am after reading about the town’s action and remove those responsible for this eviction from positions of authority. What a black mark on the town.
