Idexx Laboratories Inc. in Westbrook reported double-digit increases in both revenue and net income in the fourth quarter of 2016, according to an earnings statement filed Thursday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Idexx, which develops and manufactures diagnostic testing products for animals, milk and water, reported revenue of $443 million for the quarter, up 10.8 percent from the fourth quarter of 2015.

The company reported net income of $52.4 million, or 58 cents per share, up 20.8 percent from the fourth quarter of 2015. Shares of the company, which trade on the Nasdaq exchange under the symbol IDXX, rose by 6 percent in pre-market trading Thursday on news of the strong earnings report.
