UNITY — The Fourth annual T-Pot Memorial Ice Fishing Derby, sponsored by Unity Fire Department, will take place from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 4.

Entry tickets cost $10. A food and drink concession stand will at the weigh-in station at the Unity public boat landing at Kanockalas Beach. A mobile food cart will be on the ice from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The derby will offer more than $4,000 in prizes including door prizes, adult derby prizes, and a separate kids derby for those younger than 16. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

This event was created in memory of the late firefighter Blaine “T-Pot” Parsons, who passed away in 2010. “T-Pot” served his community for more than 35 years and enjoyed the outdoors. Most winter weekends he would be ice fishing on Unity Pond.

Proceeds will go directly to purchase and equip an all-terrain vehicle that provides wild land fire suppression, rescue in remote places such as snowmobile and ATV accidents, and lost or hurt hunters.
