The southbound drawbridge portion of the Casco Bay Bridge was stuck in the raised position for about a half-hour just after rush hour Monday.

The bridge was closed and traffic was diverted to the Veterans Memorial Bridge on I-295, while police in Portland and South Portland worked to get cars stuck on the bridge off the span.

Ted Talbot, spokesman for the Maine Department of Transportation, said some sort of electrical problem was behind the bridge getting stuck.

“We’re not sure what the issue was,” he said. “We have an electrician on the way.”

The bridge was reported stuck around 9 a.m. Talbot said traffic on the bridge was flowing again by 9:30 a.m.
