A stretch of Route 2 in Rumford reopened to all traffic late Friday afternoon after police dealt with a potentially suicidal person.
At least six miles of the heavily traveled road was closed from late morning until 4 p.m., beginning south of the city at the intersection of Route 2 and South Rumford Road. Local traffic was permitted under police escort.
Police took the man into protective custody after 6 p.m. He was not considered a threat to the public, police said.
