Just a note in reference to the Feb. 13 article, “Convicted immigrants often reoffend.” According to the article, 1,000 immigrants out of 36,007 released reoffended. This a recidivism rate of about 3 percent. The average recidivism rate in the U.S. is around 70 percent. It would appear immigrants try a lot harder than average to not get into trouble.

On another note, we appear to be awfully afraid that immigrants will come to kill us. You know the phrase “it only takes one.” Well, let’s put it in perspective. The most dangerous subgroup of Americans is the American gun-toting male. I am included in that group. We kill about 11,000 of our fellow citizens every year. So maybe we should go look in the mirror before pointing fingers.
