WATERVILLE — City police are investigating an armed robbery at a motel on Kennedy Memorial Drive that was reported during the wee hours Friday morning.

Two men entered the office of the Budget Host Airport Inn about 3:45 a.m. Friday and demanded money from the concierge, according to Deputy Chief Bill Bonney. One of the suspects reportedly showed a handgun, Bonney said.

No one was hurt and the two men left in a vehicle with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police aren’t releasing descriptions of the vehicle or the men because it’s a “very active” investigation, Bonney said.

The Budget Host Airport Inn, located at 400 Kennedy Memorial Drive, have some surveillance equipment, and someone is in the office 24 hours per day, Bonney said.

A man who answered the phone Friday afternoon at the motel said no one from Budget Host would comment on the robbery.
