UNITY — Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association’s Seed Swap and Scion Exchange will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at MOFGA’s Common Ground Education Center, 294 Crosby Brook Road.

The event will feature educational workshops.

This event cosponsored by MOFGA, the Maine Tree Crop Alliance and Fedco, will feature Mark Fulford’s class on grafting techniques from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at education center.

On-site grafting is planned for 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in the Exhibition Hall. Participants can choose scionwood from the table or bring their own to graft a tree. The rootstock will be provided. All proceeds will go to MOFGA’s Maine Heritage Orchard.

Multiple talks and demonstrations about seed saving are planned, one will include saving seeds in the land of genetically engineered crops (GE crops, also known as GMOs). Daniel MacPhee of Blackbird Rise will offer his expertise and demonstrate equipment for the garden and farm scale.

Will Bonsall will talk about tree crops and how to meet their mineral needs; Abbie Sewall will talk about elderberries; and Aaron Parker will talk about propagating woody plants without grafting.
