AUGUSTA — Viles Arboretum will hold a Community Gardens Program organizational and information meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at the Visitors Center, 153 Hospital St.
The arboretum offers a large array of garden plots for raising vegetables, herbs and flowers.
The goal of the arboretum is to make plots available for planting by May 15. The organization now has a tiller for the tractor so it will be easier to till the garden as needed.
Volunteers are sought for the following tasks: till the garden, lay out plots, assign names to plots, stake and line the entire garden and set up water tank and hoses.
The arboretum will provide watering cans, mulch, water and hoses, some implements and of course the tilled garden plots.
