Sportsman Show, March 31-April 2 in Augusta

The 37th annual State of Maine Sportsman Show at the Augusta Civic Center will feature seminars, speakers and displays, including a massive collection of whitetail deer mounts by Whitetails of North America. Outfitters and guides will have booths, and seminars will include programs on fishing techniques, hunting dog training and taxidermy. The show runs 1 to 7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Appalachian Trail meeting, April 8 in Lewiston

The Maine Appalachian Trail Club is holding its annual meeting at Bates College. Topics will include conservation stories from The Trust for Public Land and the Appalachian Trail, trail maintenance workshops, and management of trail use. No cost, all welcome. The meeting will be in Pettengill Hall at 4 Andrews Rd. For more information, go to matc.org.

Community Garden, 4:30 p.m. April 13 in Augusta

The Viles Arboretum invites anyone who would like to participate in its community gardens program to attend an information meeting from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The garden will have a large number of plots for vegetables, herbs and flowers. It’s proven to be a great way to learn from others, trade seeds and plants and meet other gardeners. The arboretum provides watering cans, mulch, water and hoses, some implements and tilled garden plots. The arboretum is at 153 Hospital Street. Learn more at vilesarboretum.org.
