AUGUSTA — Police have released the names of two drivers involved in a head-on crash Monday morning on North Belfast Avenue, which sent both vehicles into a ditch and knocked out power in that part of town.

Around 10:45 a.m. Monday, a 2008 Toyota RAV4 driven by Maria Duplin, 54, of Augusta, struck a 2012 Subaru Outback driven by Steven Wilson, 59, of Morrill, Sgt. Christopher Shaw said on Wednesday.

But police still have not released information about how the crash happened, in which direction each vehicle was driving or whether either driver required medical attention.

On Wednesday evening, a spokeswoman for MaineGeneral Medical Center said neither person was being treated there.

After the crash, traffic was restricted to one lane and both cars were towed from the scene.

The officer who investigated the crash is expected to file a more detailed report this weekend, Lt. Chris Read said.
