A Whitefield man suffered serious injuries Monday evening after his motorcycle collided with a turning pickup truck on Eastern Avenue in Chelsea.

Bradley Bean, 59, was traveling west on Eastern Avenue just before 5 p.m. when a pickup truck driven by Linwood Moody, 59, of Chelsea, traveling in the opposition direction, turned left off Eastern Avenue onto Allenwood Park Road, according to Kennebec County Sheriff Ken Mason.

Moody’s truck, a 2007 GMC, pulled in front of Bean’s 2007 Harley Davidson, and the two collided.

Bean suffered multiple fractures and a head injury, according to Mason.

He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. A nursing supervisor there said Tuesday he was in stable condition.

Moody was not injured.

Mason said Bean was wearing a helmet and Moody was wearing his seat belt.

No charges have been filed in the accident.

Augusta Rescue took Bean to the Crystal Falls parking lot, where a LifeFlight helicopter landed to take him to the hospital. Chelsea firefighters also responded to a report of the accident.
