Winthrop High School has announced its Senior Class Night scholarships. The awards were presented June 9.

The Bud Clough Athletic Memorial Scholarship was awarded in memory of Clough, a Winthrop resident and avid Winthrop High School sports fan. He contributed a great deal to the sports community including coaching, working on fields and attending most sporting events. This year the scholarship went to Ryan Hafford.

The Frank Parker Memorial Scholarship was awarded to a senior to commemorate his dedication and devotion to his community and sports. This year’s recipient is Matt Ingram.

The Walter Taylor Memorial Scholarship is in memory of Mr. Taylor who loved to run many times a week. He also ran a few marathons and this scholarship is specifically for a student who loves to run. This year the award goes to Andrew Pazdziorko/

The Bill Cox Award was presented to Jacob Hickey.

Alfred W. Maxwell Jr. American Legion Auxiliary Unit 40 Scholarship was awarded to Andrew Pazdziorko.

The Winthrop Educator Association Scholarship was awarded to Mattilda Rice.

Two Stephen Lincoln Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Connor Perkins and Nathan Cummins.

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Scholarship was awarded to Andrew Pazdziorko.

The Thomas Calcagni Memorial Scholarship. Calcagni came to America in 1905 with no money and no education but he did have to the desire to learn. The scholarship is given annually to a deserving student. This year it was awarded to Caleb Fortin.

Three Winthrop Athletic Boosters’ Club Scholarships are given to graduating seniors with athletic accomplishments and goals, good sportsmanship and promising athletic capability. This year the awards went to Kayleigh Oberg, Spencer Steele and Jacob Hickey.

The Alfred W. Maxwell Jr., American Legion Post 40 Scholarship was awarded to Molly Glaser.

The Alfred W. Maxwell Jr., American Legion Post 40 Howard Harriman Scholarship was awarded to Andrew Pazdziorko.

The Alfred W. Maxwell Jr. American Legion Post 40 United Riders Scholarship was awarded to Spencer Steele.

Two Winthrop Rotary Club Scholarships were awarded to Nathan Cummins and John Ryan.

Five RLC Engineering Scholarship were awarded to Brianna McClure, Nathan Cummins, Andrew Pazdziorko, Corinna Coulton and Matthew Ingram.

The Winthrop Grange Scholarship was awarded to Corinna Coulton.

Four Winthrop Lions Club Scholarships were awarded to John Ryan, Colin Bowler, Nathan Cummins and Zachary Robertson.

The Sen. George J. Mitchell Scholarship Research Institute awards 129 Scholarships each year — one to a graduating senior from every public high school in Maine. The scholarship award amount is $8,500. Each year there are more than 1,000 applications from across the state and the quality of the application pool is always very high. This year’s Mitchell Scholar from Winthrop High School is Matthew Ingram.

Two Charlie’s Chevrolet Business Scholarships were awarded to Katriona Hajduk and Shie Smith.

The St. Laurent Scholarship was awarded to Caleb Fortin and Corinna Coulton.

The Sandie Belden Memorial Scholarship. Walter Belden started this scholarship in memory of his wife who was a Winthrop graduate. The scholarship was awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a degree in the health care field. This year’s scholarship was awarded to Sarah Spahr.

Three MaineGeneral Auxiliary scholarships are given to individuals pursuing degrees in direct-service health care disciplines practiced at MaineGeneral Health. This year the scholarships were awarded to Megan Chamberland, Jacob Hickey and Kayleigh Oberg.

The George F. Wilson Athletic Memorial Scholarship was started by Wilson’s granddaughter in his memory. He attended every Winthrop sporting event and once played baseball for the Detroit Tigers and the Boston Red Sox. This year’s recipient is Matthew Ingram

The Lee St. Hilaire Scholarship was awarded to Alec Brown.

The Kelsey Stoneton Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Spencer Steele.

Augusta Kiwanis Club Scholarship goes to a deserving student who has displayed community and school service with consideration given to a student’s academic achievement, character, and leadership capabilities. This year the Scholarship was awarded to Jacob Hickey.

Eva King Bailey Foundation Fund Scholarships are given to three graduating seniors who wish to attend an institution of higher learning. These went to Molly Glaser, Kyle Keezer and Nathan Scott.

The Germaine Auclair Memorial Scholarship was awarded to a deserving senior with a love for education and academic promise. This year the award went to Adlin Chaparin.

Two Harry & Flora May Davis Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Ryan Hafford and Antonio Meucci.

The Dana L. Childs Memorial Scholarship was awarded to a student seeking a degree in education. Childs was a fourth-grade teacher for nearly two decades at the Winthrop Grade School encouraging students and instilling in Them the confidence needed to succeed. This year the scholarship goes to Brianna Miller.

Winthrop Area Federal Credit Union Scholarships go to deserving graduates who are also members of the credit union. This year the students were Brogan Plossay, Owen Lattin and Zachary Robertson.

Two Ron Cross Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Autum Hodge and Jasper Williams.

The P. Daniel Coyne Scholarship are awarded to students who have exhibited evidence of personal growth. This year the scholarships went to Alec Brown, Autum Hodge, Brogan Plossay and Katriona Hajduk.

Stanley Kanzey Memorial Scholarships are awarded to the students who choose to pursue a college or university education. This year the awards went to Charles deHaas, Jeffrey Dunn, Molly Glaser, Jacob Hickey, Matthew Ingram, Kyle Keezer, Michael Leonard, Antonio Meucci, Kayleigh Oberg and Mattilda Rice.

The Bud Clough Vocational Memorial Scholarship was awarded to a student who has participated in a vocational program of studies while attending Winthrop High School. The 2017 recipient was Charles deHaas.

The MELMAC Education Foundation Maine Principals’ Scholarship was awarded to a senior who makes a difference in the lives of others, is a solid school citizen and has made a positive contribution to the school environment. This year the award is went to Jasper Williams.

The Del Bissonette Memorial Scholarship was awarded to a senior who has displayed outstanding qualities of personality and character. Who has maintained a high scholastic record, been a member of one or more of the school’s athletic teams and has contributed to the well-being of the school and community. This year the award was given to Jacob Hickey and Andrew Pazdziorko.

Ramsdell Memorial Fund Scholarships are awarded to graduating students based on being all-around students and having participated in activities within their church. The award went to Corinna Coulton and Sarah Spahr.

The Nellie M. Tuttle Memorial Valedictorian Scholarship was awarded to Matthew Ingram.

The Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks Augusta Lodge 964 Scholarship was started 26 years ago. This year a scholarship was awarded to John Ryan.

The Maine Community College system established a scholarship to encourage students to further their education. This year two Maine Community College System 2017 Early College for ME Scholarships were awarded to Nathan Cummins and Colin Bowler.

The Helena Bissonette Seamans Memorial Scholarships are awarded to seniors who have displayed outstanding qualities of personality and character: This year’s award went to Nathan Scott and Brogan Plossay.

The Martha Williams Memorial Scholarship was awarded to a senior who has demonstrated an interest and talent in any of the art forms, music or poetry. The 2017 award was given to Jasper Williams.

The Marshall Hills Memorial Scholarship was started in 2000 by Joan Hills in memory of her husband Marshall who was the town manager for Winthrop for many years. This year the award went to Devin Firlotte.

Two Fifteenth Alabama Infantry Division Scholarship was awarded to Alec Brown and Jeffrey Dunn.

Two Alice Whiting Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Brianna Miller and Owen Lattin.

Maine Community Foundation Philip, David and Stephen Kelley Memorial Scholarship was awarded to a student pursing a vocational or community college degree. The award went to Antonio Meucci.

The Richard Segal Scholarship was awarded by Segal, an alumnus of Winthrop High School. This year the scholarship was awarded to Corinna Coulton.

The Jeanette Cumber Memorial Scholarship was awarded to student pursuing further education and has a love of music. This year the scholarship was awarded to Jasper Williams.

The Pamela Webb Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Colin Bowler.

Class of 1965 Scholarship was awarded to Brianna Miller.

The Helen A Griffin Scholarship was awarded in memory of Griffin, a former faculty member of the Winthrop Public Schools. The scholarship was awarded to Megan Chamberland.

The Avis Adams Cadwell Memorial Scholarship was awarded annually to a graduates residing in Winthrop who has been accepted at an accredited institution. The student must be pursuing a career in nursing or in a health care related field. It is based on academic achievement and commitment to pursue the chosen health care field. This year the Scholarships were awarded to Megan Chamberland and Spencer Steele.
