A carnival for children is set for Wednesday in Mill Park in Augusta.
Cobby’s Carnival, sponsored by the Augusta Elks Lodge #964 and the Augusta Boys & Girls Club for Teens, will feature a bungee trampoline, giant zorbs, face painting, food and raffles. The event is free and the first 50 children who participate will receive a free T-shirt. The carnival is held in honor of Sylvester Cobbs, a photographer, community volunteer and popular substitute teacher. Cobbs died at age 83 in 2013 following a car accident in Winthrop.
The event runs from 4 to 8 p.m. in Mill Park at the bottom of Sand Hill in Augusta.
