A crash in Casco involving a Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office SUV left it and another vehicle totaled Thursday morning.

The crash occurred just before 9 a.m. on Route 302 in an area of Casco known as Watkins Flats.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the police cruiser, a 2016 Chevy Tahoe driven by Deputy Patrick Ferriter, was headed west on Route 302 and was hit by a 2007 Ford Taurus driven by Patricia DeWolfe of Florida, who was headed in the opposite direction.

The sheriff’s office said witness statements and evidence at the scene indicated that DeWolfe’s car crossed the center line of the road and hit Ferriter’s SUV. The crash was described as a combination head-on collision and sideswipe.

Neither driver suffered any serious injuries, but the two vehicles were totaled, the sheriff’s office said.

The crash is under investigation.
