Nomination papers are available in Gardiner for people considering running for office in the Nov. 7 election.

Four seats on the City Council are up for election, for districts 1-4. Those seats are currently held by Terry Berry, Patricia Hart, Shawn Dolley and Phil Hart. Each of those seats is for a two-year term. Information on the districts by street is available on Gardiner’s website at www.gardinermaine.com.

Two Gardiner seats on the School Administrative District 11 Board are also up; one is for three years, one is for two years. Candidates must identify which seat they are seeking. They are currently held by Becky Fles and Anthony Veit.

All petitions require 25 signatures of registered voters. For the City Council seats, the signatures must be from voters from the district where the candidate is running. Voters are not allowed to sign more than one candidate’s petition for office for either the city council seats or the school board seats.

The deadline for nomination papers is 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 11.

Gardiner City Clerk Lisa Gillam said the candidates’ own signatures must be notarized, either at City Hall or by an outside notary.
