A rally to support riot-torn Charlottesville, Virginia, is being organized by a local activist group for Portland’s Monument Square on Sunday.

March Forth Maine and Women’s March on Washington Portland plan a “Portland Maine Stands in Solidarity with Charlottesville” rally at 6 p.m.

The rally follows an impromptu gathering of about 50 at the Eastern Promenade on Saturday to honor the people killed and injured while protesting a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville on Saturday.

March Forth Maine is a political action group focused on civil rights, democracy and Maine, according to its Facebook page.
