Janet Heggeman, 63, was driving a 2013 Buick Lacrosse when she lost control on Route 25 in Limington and the car went off the road, crashed into a tree and caught fire.

Three passersby pulled the injured Heggeman out of the burning vehicle. Photographs provided by the York County Sheriff’s Office showed the vehicle’s interior had burned to crisp.

“We saved a life, no doubt about,” said Joseph Parent of Portland, a ski patroller who helped pull her out of the car and carried her to safety.
