The Maine Military Museum at Camp Keyes is a relatively unknown historical gem in the heart of Augusta (”Military museum artifacts in Augusta face uncertain future amid National Guard move,” Aug. 6). Over the years, volunteer curator Ronald Roussel did a wonderful job putting together exhibits of artifacts from the French and Indian War through the American Revolution, the Civil War, the world wars, the Korean War, Vietnam and all the way up through the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Maine has a strong military tradition. It will be shortsighted of the Maine National Guard if it cannot find space for the Maine Military Museum to celebrate that tradition at its new facility.
