A 2-year-old child fell out of a second-story window in a building on Oxford Street on Monday, Portland police say.
Lt. Robert Martin, who is the police department spokesman, said the child suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, but did have to be taken by ambulance to Maine Medical Center. He did not know if the child was a boy or a girl.
Portland police are treating the matter as an accident, although the department’s Crime Scene Unit did respond.
“It appears that a screen let go when the child pressed against it,” Martin said in a email.
