Marilyn Noyes Mollicone recently received the Mayor’s Recognition of Excellence Award. For 19 years Mollicone helped summer campers identify birds, bugs and plants in Augusta’s Nature Park located off South Belfast Avenue. She helped start the summer camp and planted many species around the grounds.

A Bethel native, she moved to Augusta with her husband, who worked for the Department of Transportation. She has a degree in botany. After 19 years of working in the park, she returned to college to work on her master’s degree in botany. She then returned to the Nature Park to plant many shrubs and perennial flowers and provide interpretive services to visitors.
