In the recent article “Winslow council divided over $10.33 million schools bond” published on Aug. 15, I was quoted as having said that I have a philosophical issue with our current auxiliary gym being made into a full gym and being considered educational. The reporter did not include the second half of my statement, which was “while the proposed performing arts center is not” considered educational.
Having served on the building committee, I am well aware of the need for both a second full gym and a new performing arts center when Winslow Junior High and Winslow High School consolidate. Winslow has strong programs in both sports and the arts, and we need to be sure that all of our students have the facilities they deserve.
