FAIRFIELD — Heavy rains caused an accident early Wednesday afternoon when a driver hydroplaned off the road.

Francis Fournier, 46, of Wilton, was traveling southbound on Norridgewock Road in the area of Covell Road, when he hydroplaned in the heavy rain and rolled his 2006 GMC pickup into a driveway.

Fairfield Police Capt. Paul St. Amand said Fournier suffered minor injuries in the crash, a few small lacerations, and did not require hospitalization. The crash occurred at 12:15 p.m., and St. Amand said it was likely the truck was totaled.

The truck was towed away by C&J Wrecker Services. Despite rolling into a driveway, there was virtually no property damage, just some torn up sod, St. Amand said.
